As the founder and lead attorney at Snodsmith Law, Leigh M. Snodsmith brings over 15 years of legal and public service experience to families across West Alabama. Known for her hands-on approach and deep knowledge of family law, Leigh is committed to helping clients navigate emotionally charged legal matters with clarity, confidence, and results.

Whether handling a contested divorce, a child custody battle, or representing a child in dependency court, Leigh provides personalized legal strategies designed around each client’s goals — not one-size-fits-all solutions. She is recognized not only for her legal skills but also for her responsiveness, compassion, and deep roots in the Tuscaloosa community.

Background & Education

A Tuscaloosa native and graduate of Central High School, Leigh earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama, majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations and minoring in Political Science. Before practicing law, she spent nearly a decade in public policy, serving in roles such as:

  • Communications Director for Lieutenant Governor Lucy Baxley
  • Deputy Finance Director for the Alabama Education Lottery Campaign


Leigh later earned her Juris Doctor from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where she was:

  • Recipient of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate, reflecting concentrated training in mediation, arbitration, and settlement negotiation

Legal Career

After returning to Tuscaloosa and gaining experience at a local firm, Leigh founded Snodsmith Law in 2016 to focus exclusively on family law and juvenile matters. Her legal practice is built on a foundation of:

  • Aggressive courtroom advocacy when necessary


She is also certified to serve as a Guardian ad Litem in both Juvenile and Circuit Courts, a role that reflects her commitment to protecting the best interests of children in vulnerable situations.

Admitted to practice law in the State of Alabama in 2008 and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in 2009, Leigh maintains active membership with the Alabama State Bar and the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association, reflecting a continued commitment to professional standards and legal excellence.

Community Involvement

Leigh has served as a board member and past president of Turning Point, a nonprofit supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. She remains active in her alma mater’s chapter of Pi Beta Phi and is a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa.

Leigh lives in Tuscaloosa with her two children and their golden retrievers. She is known among clients and colleagues for being grounded, practical, and fiercely committed to doing what’s right — whether inside the courtroom or in the community.
